Middlebury Police Department

Officer George Merkel has been named "Law Enforcement Officer of the Year" for the State of Vermont by the American Legion, Department of Vermont. This prestigious award is bestowed annually upon one Vermont law enforcement officer.

The last Middlebury Police Officer to receive this award was Officer Scott Fisher, in 1997.
